About
A small team, working on one thing for now.
OmniCore Lab is a small R&D team in Taiwan. Our main product in development is PalmCore, an AI companion that lives in the phone.
The problem
Most people could learn it. Nobody waited for them.
What AI can do has grown quickly in the last few years. For people who aren’t comfortable with a phone, daily life has not become much easier. The places where they got stuck are still there, and now there are a few new buttons they don’t recognize.
We want to put that capability somewhere unglamorous: letting a person finish what they need to do on their phone, by themselves. It doesn’t demo well and it is hard to put on a chart. We think it deserves a team’s full attention.
How we work
Working habits
One thing at a time
There aren’t many of us, so we don’t run several projects at once. The one thing right now is PalmCore.
Measure, then talk
An approach counts as working only once we have seen the result. If we haven’t measured it yet, we say so.
It has to work on older phones
The people we design for often aren’t carrying the latest model. Something that only runs well on a new phone is no use to them.
If we can’t say it, we don’t
The product is still in development and some things aren’t public yet. Where that applies, we would rather leave a gap than cover it with vague language.
What we believe
Three beliefs
When someone can’t get along with a thing, the thing should be examined first.
How you help someone shapes how they see themselves. Having a task taken off your hands and having someone with you while you finish it lead to the same result. They feel very different.
Trust has to be given a reason first, most of all by a product that touches personal data.
